Prime Minister Narendra Modi told an all-party meeting that India’s G-20 chairmanship is a unique opportunity to showcase the country’s strengths to the world.
Affirming that the country’s presidency of the G-20, a grouping of the world’s 20 major economies, belongs to the whole nation, Prime Minister Modi said that today there is a global curiosity and attraction for the India which further increase the potential of the opportunity, said the Ministry of External Affairs. said in a statement.
He stressed the importance of teamwork and sought the cooperation of all leaders in organizing various G-20 events.
Prime Minister Modi stressed that the G-20 presidency would help showcase parts of India beyond the conventional big metros, bringing out the uniqueness of various parts of the country, he said.
Noting that a large number of visitors would come to India during the year-long events, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the potential for promoting tourism and boosting local economies of the venues where the G-20 meetings would be held.
The statement said leaders of different parties including JP Nadda of BJP, Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress, Mamata Banerjee of TMC, Naveen Patnaik of BJD, Arvind Kejriwal of AAP, Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSR Congress, Sitaram Yechury of CPM, N Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP and MK Stalin of the DMK addressed the Meeting.
Brief interventions were made by Interior Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while a detailed presentation summarizing aspects of India’s G-20 priorities was also made, according to the statement.
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, S Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal, Pralhad Joshi and Bhupender Yadav also attended the meeting.
